Contact: mhlpi@sfu.ca

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS STUDY?

You are being invited to participate in an international study examining current themes in forensic mental health practice. We are interested in professionals’ perspectives on emerging issues, clinical and legal practices, system-level challenges, ethical considerations, innovation, and workforce experiences across diverse settings. Your input will help inform a broader understanding of how the field is evolving globally.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY?

To participate in this study, you should be working in forensic mental health, criminal justice, or a related field. This includes clinicians, researchers, policy professionals, and others involved in forensic mental health practice or systems.

WHAT DOES THIS STUDY INVOLVE?

If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to complete a brief anonymous online survey (approximately 15–20 minutes). The survey will ask about your professional background and your perspectives on current issues and experiences in the field.

The survey also includes an optional question to indicate interest in participating in a future focus group, for those who would like to contribute more in-depth insights.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS STUDY?

You are being invited to participate in a study investigating the implementation of risk assessment tools. Specifically, we are interested in professionals’ perceptions, opinions, and experiences with the implementation of a risk assessment tool at their workplace.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY?

To participate in this study, you must conduct (violence or recidivism) risk assessments or manage those who conduct risk assessments at a worksite that has adopted a risk assessment tool. By adopted, we mean that your site and/or agency has a policy or requirement that staff use a specific risk assessment tool.

WHAT DOES THIS STUDY INVOLVE?

If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to complete a brief online survey that will take approximately 30 minutes of your time. The anonymous survey will ask you about your basic demographic characteristics, personality, site and/or agency characteristics, and several outcomes related to the implementation of the risk assessment tool.
